Automatic Number Plate Recogition

Once considereed to be the Holy Grail of CCTV, automatic number plate recognition of vehicles, or ANPR, is now simple to achieve with commercially-available equipment.

An aligned assembly of high-resolution mono camera, with matched lens, and focussed infra red lighting, can achieve accurate number plate capture, even in hostile lighting and weather conditions.

In its simplest form, an ANPR camera on your CCTV system can accurately record the vehicles entering or leaving your site, and provide an analogue or digital video record.

If linked to an ANPR controller, the number plate recorded by the camera can be linked to a database of registration numbers. This can be used for a variety of purposes, such as:

1. Raising a car barrier for an authorised vehicle.
2. Timing the arrival or departure of a vehicle.
3. Alerting staff to the arrival of a known offender.
