Case Study: Kent & Sussex Security's Forward Vision Solution for Hythe

Hythe

Kent & Sussex Security based in Ashford, Kent are proud to announce that they have successfully won a contract to relocate an existing camera and install three more for Hythe Town Council, and have already carried out the work required, offering an innovative and reliability enhanced solution.

Hythe Town Council had in place an existing system of eight pan/tilt/zoom cameras which were fed back by optical fibre to a monitoring station in the Hythe Council Offices. This monitoring station was once manned twenty-four hours a day, but in recent years Shepway District Council based in Folkestone has monitored the cameras in Hythe, via a fibre optic link.

As a part of this year's improvements to the CCTV programme, Hythe Town Council wished to carry out the following work:

To assist with the implementation of this plan, Hythe Town Council appointed the well-known independent CCTV consultant, Cliff Pester to draw up a brief. This was then circulated to a number of CCTV installation companies, both nationally and locally. Kent & Sussex Security was pleased to learn they had won the contract.

Geoff Hilton, Managing Director of KSS comments "Rather than utilise conventional pan/tilt/zoom cameras which are slow and prone to being somewhat unreliable in a seaside environment, we proposed the use of high-speed surveillance domes from Forward Vision. The benefits of using this system includes the fact that they are very quick to move and zoom and offer a complete 360 degree movement. They provide a good low-light performance and are extremely resilient to corrosion and damage caused by marine environments. Also, unlike conventional dome cameras, these have a built in wiper to remove rain and salt sea spray, making them ideal for the requirements in Hythe."

The new cameras have been successfully integrated into the existing system, improving the quality of the CCTV coverage and enhancing the reliability of the system, thus providing a safer environment for residents and visitors alike. Speaking on the superior performance of the new cameras, Judith McCormick, Town Clerk of Hythe Town Council states "the additional cameras have added real value to the existing system. I was very satisfied with the professional way in which Kent & Sussex Security dealt with their installation"
